  • Uncover the secret hormone that may be sabotaging our efforts, and what we can do to combat its effects

Elaine Allison, CSP (Certified Speaking Professional) is an International speaker and best-selling author of The Velvet Hammer – PowHERful Leadership Lessons for Women Who Don’t Golf. She realized she needed a different strategy when, at the age of 19, she became one of Canada’s first female prison guards to supervise inmates in an all-male maximum security prison. She developed unique approaches to the many challenges women faced – because her life depended on it.  After her baptism by fire more than 20 years ago, she moved on to manage over 1400 unionized flight attendants in the airline industry and has held other senior corporate roles in both finance and insurance. From those experiences through to today, Elaine has continued to develop her effectiveness as a leader, author and successful business woman.  Her most recent work has been with the Vancouver International Airport where she has trained over 5,000 people in preparation to welcome the world for the 2010 Winter Olympics and trained all front line staff for the new Canada Line.

Elaine is the recipient of the “Visions of Excellence” Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2002.  She attributes her success directly to the “velvet hammer” techniques she shares with her audiences and in her landmark book, The Velvet Hammer – PowHERful Leadership Lessons for Women Who Don’t Golf. Elaine has been featured on ABC Morning News, Global TV, CBC Radio and in The Globe & Mail.  She is regularly interviewed on radio stations across North America,
