Social networking, social media and online communities are getting lots of attention. The NWBN is a great example of a successful community both online and offline. “On behalf of the Nanaimo Women’s Business network, we are so pleased to be welcoming Angela Crocker back as our April speaker,” enthuses Karen Hanson, President of the NWBN. “Angela clarifies social media so that everyone can comprehend and learn. She communicates in a down to earth, even-keeled manner, giving insight and tips on how we can benefit and build our businesses. What a bonus for NWBN to have Angela return.”

2009 – 2010 Membership changes

September 7th, 2009

There are many great changes to announce for this season:

First off we are expanding our meetings to run all year for the 2009/2010. We know you do not close down your business for 2 months so why should your business network take a break?

We listened to your feedback last year and with the overwhelming satisfaction in holding our dinner meetings at the Nanaimo Golf Club, so we have made a commitment to be there right through to the end of 2010!

Our Program Directors, Nicole Shaw and Trisha Grey are hard at work getting some great presenters lined up. We are starting off the year with a dynamic speaker Callan Rush – I am currently in her coaching program and let me tell you you are in for a treat!  Click Here for details.

Membership dues

We have designed a simplified membership dues structure that will save you time by eliminating pre-paying for each meeting. This new structure is based on other successful networking groups.

The renewal cost for membership will be: $125.00

The new Membship rate will be $155.00

The cost of dinners will remain at $35.00 per dinner, but will now be billed quarterly, in advance. This is going to simplify things tremendously for both the organization and you, the members. Now you won’t need to remember to pay online, or bring a cheque, or get caught up in paying at the door. You will already have paid for your dinner. When you arrive at the meetings, you can get right down to networking!

The cost for this would be: $105 per quarter.

Your first invoice will reflect your membership fee plus your dinners for September, October and November. $125.00 + $105.00 = $230.00

In December you will be billed $105.00 for December, January and February.

In March you will be billed $105.00 for March, April and May.

In June you will be billed $105.00 for June, July and August.

What if you can’t attend a meeting, do you still pay? Yes. But you are encouraged to offer your spot to someone else to fill. It’s a great way to build the network, by introducing someone to the benefits, when you are unable to attend.

Our aim is to build a strong and vibrant network that supports its members well. This can only be done if we have an active, engaged and supportive membership.

The Board is working hard to make sure that our members are well served by this organization and we’re looking forward to some great events this year. We hope you will join us.

50/50 Draws

We have adopted new thinking on our 50/50 draw … now the NWBN portion will be donated to a chosen charity of the month. If you have a charity that you would like considered, please let us know.

NWBN Promotional Opportunities

We will now be offering Meeting Sponsorships, where a member can sponsor a monthly meeting for the cost of $50.00. They will then be able to speak about their company for 10 minutes, as well as put their literature on each table. This is another great promotional venue for each of our members. Our September meeting is booked, so if your interested in October, let us know.

Other promotional and advertising opportunities are: bi-weekly newsletter. We will now send only 2 emails a month to members and guests. If you have a special promotion or want to connect with the membership, this is where you will do it. The cost to be included will be $25.00. And don’t forget, you can advertise in both the newsletter and on our Harbourliving.ca Event Listing for only $40.00 per month. Watch for more details on this.

The NWBN board of directors are very excited about this year. We really want to make this your network and a valuable commodity to your business.
